Supplier management is a fundamental component to successful project, programme or service delivery. As such Robert has engaged with and managed many suppliers both small and large, from initial engagement at bid stage through commercial negotiation and teaming (confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements) through to project delivery stage (contracts and sub-contracts).
Robert is very skilled in the art of negotiation and adept at driving out the best deal for all concerned. On a recent project (Telco MVNE Implmentation) Robert’s negotiation skills saved the project over €500K in the delivery phase alone).
As part of a recent assignment (Services Director for a Tier 1 account) Robert played a vital role in the negotiation of all contracts and sub-contracts with both suppliers and the customer. As part of his business development initiatives Robert has engaged with and managed numerous third party suppliers and partners in order to get solutions and service offerings up and running.
Most recently Robert bid managed and successfully won a large scale Oracle Business Intelligence Implementation for a semi-state client, which he is now programme managing. As part of this programme of work Robert was pivotal to the contract negotiations with both the customer and a key partner organisation, frequently called upon to write and review contract and sub-contract schedules.
In previous roles within Guinness/Diageo Robert was frequently called upon to negotiate with suppliers as part of any tender offered in order to ensure the best deal for the Guinness IS&T department. Although not a member of any Union Robert was called upon by both Management and the Union to help arbitrate in a dispute between both sides at the Labour court, notably because he was trusted by both sides to be objective and ensure a fair solution was reached.
